summer's almost over!

As summer is quickly coming to an end I'm still in the midst of making my move to Denver. My old car is still in Boulder, as well as a few other items that still need to be moved. I do miss Boulder, or the "bubble," as we like to call it. But, don't get me wrong,  I'm super  pumped that I live in this little city. The people, the nightlife, the street fashion is so eclectic. More about my transition to Denver will be in a later post...along with pics of the new crib!!

This post is dedicated to missing the excitement of the first day of school.
Gosh, it seems like so long ago that I was cursing the heavens for still being in college and now I miss all events that go into the first day of school. I lovedddd going back to school shopping, getting all new pencils, erasers, pens, notebooks, etc... (and yes I did this even in college, I'm still 5 years old at heart). And the fashion!!! Every September, I would think about how I wanted my clothes to represent the new me. I'd usually have to wear my cheer uniform on the first day while in High School, so in College I took my first day outfit choices to the next level of refinement.
A pic of a typical first day outfit will be posted either tonight or tomorrow as I'm still washing and steaming clothes that were in my storage unit.  those poor things..all dusty and unwanted..until NOW!

Happy Monday everyone and enjoy you last week of freeeeeedom!
cheers,
S

Fall Office Attire

If you're like me, then you've been counting down the days until we finally have some cool weather. Thankfully, for today's shoot we experienced the perfect blend of summer breeze and rain. YAY, for summer showers! Anyway, call me old fashion, but nothing screams chic and sophisticated like a pencil skirt and some killer above-the-knee boots! Any rendition of these two looks below are sure to make heads spin and your coworkers drool over how amazing you look!

For the first look, I wanted to experiment with the length of the skirt. My dear friend, Katerina who took all the photographs, suggested that I pin the skirt to show a little leg. I really liked her idea and thought it was a great way to take the look from office attire to after-work attire.

The second look was an experiment with dark colors against neon print. I'm a firm believer that bright colors, whether neon or not, are going to be a staple accent piece to any look. Here, I used my structured neon purse to accentuate the neon earrings. I really like how the two pieces pop out against the darker tones of my top, skirt, tights, and heels. To try this look I would stick to using small accent pieces like jewelry, a structured clutch or purse, and/or heels; so as not to create a bombardment of the 80's!

Cheers,
-S

Paint it Black

I LOVE wearing black.
It's important to have color in your wardrobe, but it's also important to have basic black pieces too. I would recommend purchasing at least one black-T.  I particularly adore JBrand's T-shirts because they're so soft and cut to perfection.

For today's post I'm rockin' three very different looks, with three very different stories that define each outfit.

The first story is an 'out with the girls' look. You can never go wrong with leather shorts, a light top, heels, and naughty-but-nice jewelry! Great outfit for after-work cocktails.

The second story is 'bohemian gal meets rocker gal'. My For Love & Lemons (check out their website! these young ladies are super talented) dress was the perfect choice for such a story. It's cut is very boho-chic, but since it's black you can "toughen" it up as well. I love the versatility of this dress because we all know wearing the same look twice is not fun.

The third story was inspired by Morticia, The Addams Family matriarch. This story was particularly fun to shoot because we shot it with my new Nikon 1 camera.

Happy Friday!!!
Cheers,
S
